BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary and Member Iron collection committee Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said today, 15 December 2013 at 09:00 am the Ludhiana marathon started from Basti Jodhewal Chowk, Ludhiana towards Sunder Nagar under the worthy Leadership of Sh. Kamal Sharma State President BJP Punjab. Grewal stated that along with him in this marathon race Prof. Rajinder Bhandari Ex- State President BJP, Shmt. Santosh Kalra and Shmt. Sarabjit Kaur Bath both State Vice President BJP, Parveen Bansal District President BJP and Harsh Sharma District President BJYM Ludhiana joined the marathon at Basti Jodhewal Chowk, Ludhiana with large number of BJP Urban, Rural youth and workers. Grewal stated that People from nearly 1,000 locations in the country are likely to take part in the 'Run for Unity'. Addressing presspersons today Grewal said that 'Run for Unity', a marathon held at the same time for the same purpose today December 15, the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He stated that initially, it was estimated to conduct the run in 565 destinations in the country. But going by the responses, today the number of destinations likely crossed 1,000 all over the country. Grewal said that the marathon today inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Vadodara. He said that nearly one lakh people are participate in that marathon. He said that students from different schools, colleges, youths, doctors, educationists and members of different NGO's will participate this marathon. Grewal also stated that the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust would build Patel's statue near Sardar Sarovar Dam. This 182-metre-high 'Statue of Unity' will be the world's tallest statue. Grewal said that as a part of this campaign, old farming tools and the sample of the soil of the village will be collected from all the villages across India. He said that the farming tools will be used to construct the statue.
